I was born in a small South African town, Ladysmith. Being a family man, I had the hard choice of moving to a bigger city as a boarder for high school, meaning a new life in a new town, with no one there that I would know. Extremely happy with my decision, I have enjoyed some of the best years of my life, made friends and learned more there than I ever could in my home town. After high school I decided to go and get a trade, seeing that I preferred working outside more than in an office. After 3 years of studying and doing an apprenticeship, I wrote my trade test and qualified as an electrician. I moved from my hometown to Rustenburg. The experience I gained from this is immense. I worked alongside some of the best engineers in South Africa. Regarding safety and planning, there is no better place to learn then on the mines. Safety awareness was top priority for them. Risk assessments and management contingency plans never fell short and luckily I could have experienced this first hand and took a lot home from it. Now, after 4 years of working as an electrician, I have decided to take my expertise over to a new industry, yachting, to travel the world and learn and grow with new adventures to come, hoping my past endeavors will aid me in my journey. My AEC1 Course is booked for end of June. I am extremely focused, hardworking and determined to have a successful yachting career!
