I am 26 years old and ready to make a long-term commitment to a stable job and income on board a yacht. I have three years hospitality experience prior to yachting, and two full seasons experience in the yachting industry on a charter vessel as well as a high-class mega yacht. I worked on an award-winning wine farm in South Africa as a wine stewardess while I was studying Psychology at Stellenbosch University. I started out by learning everything about the wine, tasting notes and vinification of each different wine, then I began to present wine tastings to guests with the focus on international sales. After a while the tasting room manager saw my potential and took me with her on wine shows across South Africa and private VIP tasting for important clients. Then, during covid I had to find a different route and I started my first season on a 35m private yacht where I assisted the chief stewardess with unpacking, cleaning, inventorying and provisioning to get the new build ready after shipyard to cross to Greece. Because of my wine knowledge, I was responsible for sourcing fine wines for the owner, maintaining them and working with the chefs to decided which wine to serve with meals. After a few months I had to find another boat and joined a 45m charter yacht. I was working closely with the chief stewardess in preparing for the Monaco GP where we had 100+ guests on board to serve drinks and canapes. Then, Nice Boat Show and Cannes Lion Festival. On both yachts I worked closely with the chief stewardess and chefs and rotated through all departments, although I have a natural strength in service. In 2023, I joined a 100+m yacht as a service/yoga stewardess. After my first month, I was chosen to work on land-based operation for two weeks and then returned to the boat for the rest of the season. Here I had to opportunity to learn about different service styles, attention to detail, professionalism and working within a big team. In between my seasons on board, I learned more about the art of wine making and did three harvest in South Africa and France, and completed my WSET level 2 with merit. Other than my work experience, I am a mature, calm and positive individual who likes to stay active, work hard, learn new things and always try to make the environment around me desirable to be part of by feeding positivity, being friendly and working hard.
