I am writing to express my extreme interest in the deckhand position aboard your vessel. I hold a STCW, ENG1, Yacht Rating and RIB Master qualification and I am available immediately with my location at this present time being Palma de Mallorca. Having grown up on farms along the coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa I have managed to gain the attribute of being extremely hard working, diligent and pretty hands on in terms of maintenance. In saying that I have also spent copious amounts of time deep sea fishing having 6 years experience in launching and recovering our 17ft C-Cat through the surf which has provided me with the skill of being able to handle a tender in some pretty unpredictable and challenging situations. I started off my journey into the yachting industry in April 2025, after arriving on the 8th I found work the starting the very next day aboard M\Y Summer, a 32m Azimut Grande. This day work then turned into a temporary sole deckhand position that ended on the 9th of May due to the unfortunate circumstance of me having not yet acquired a Yacht Master certificate. In that month I went from never setting foot on any type of yacht to finding my feet and picking up essential skills like line handling, mooring operations, full wash downs and general upkeep of the exterior as well as assisting the engineer in the engine room. I pride myself in being an extremely hardworking, upbeat person who has a passion and eagerness to learn new things and grow in this industry as it would be a dream come true. Being a little less experienced than most candidates sets me back a bit, however, if I can find someone who shares the same eagerness and passion to teach as I have to learn and who is able to give me a chance to prove myself and show the type of person I am, I can promise you, I will not let you down.
