I'm MJ, a 29-year-old qualified school teacher and junior stewardess from South Africa. I studied 4 years at university to become a teacher as I love working with children and went abroad to build-up as much worldly experience possible. After a few years of teaching I felt the need and desire to change and pursue my other passion for hospitality and I was shown the opportunity to do so on the yachts. My background in hospitality includes 3yrs of hospitality studies - focused on restaurant management & fine-dining, practical experience from informal to high-end catering events, and an exceptional guest house internship focused on cleaning, laundry and material care. I also completed an additional super yacht stew course that focused on all aspects of interior, of which I enjoyed the mixology part the most. Over 7 years of working abroad, I’ve learned to adapt quickly and think on my feet being naturally curious and independent. I love problem-solving and getting into practical tasks, whether it’s fixing or organizing things and spaces.
