Hi my name is Rory Guglielmoni; I'm 29 years young and I come from a small town called Wellington, New Zealand. I began my seagoing career as a deckhand on superyachts, after completing a lacklustre season of temporary day working roles and an Atlantic delivery, I returned to NZ to begin my deck officer apprenticeship. I completed my OOW unlimited through a diploma at the NZ Maritime School, which consisted of 2 years at school and a year at sea, my seatime was spent on the "Roll on-Roll off" ferries which transit the two main islands. After completing my OOW license i then returned into the yachting industry as a 2nd Officer, with a firm foundation of seamanship and some elbow simple green, I was able to progress through seatime requirements and examinations to gain my Chief mate unlimited license and a Chief officer role onboard an 85m private motor yacht. Throughout the pandemic I kept at sea, gaining valuable seatime and experience, so much so earlier in the year (2023) I decided to sit my Masters unlimited license. I'm a dedicated and hardworking person, I've had my back against a wall since I started in this industry and I am wholly committed to becoming a better leader and crew mate perpetually. My background in the commercial sector gave me valuable skills that, whilst admittedly don't apply to every yacht I have worked on, have given me a great head start into running a safe and efficient vessel. I am a people person at heart, I'm a firm believer in a team mentality, working with larger crews and also smaller , it has given me a great insight into interdependence and comradery. I'm looking for a longterm senior deck officer position onboard a motor yacht. In an ideal world it would be on a vessel with a reputation for progression, I am comfortable working in any capacity of officer (1st,2nd,3rd) but my dream is to be in a position with the right guidance to begin to make the steps towards becoming a captain.
