I am 45 years old, a former Naval officer with 10 years of experience on tall ships (180ft+), as an OOW and chief officer, and 6+years as a captain on 100+ft sailing yachts. I have just finished my master 500 tons license in Croatia, and I am ready for work ASAP. I graduated from the Naval Academy in 2003, where I studied navigation and seamanship for 4 years (terrestrial, electronic, celestial etc...). Each year, we would go, for one month in winter and one month in the summer, out of our classrooms embarking on the training school ship "JADRAN", a beautiful 60m training ship-barquentine from 1931. During those 4 years, going through all kinds of duties, from deckhand to assistant to OOW, I became very close with this ship, and decided to continue my career as an officer on that same ship. After graduation as a young officer, I was working 1 year on frigate as a weapon officer and then got transferred to the tall ship Jadran. I have spent 9 years on the training tall ship in Montenegro. My duties on her were from deckhand (when I was a cadet), and 9 years as a navigation officer, deck officer in charge for sailing, deck and rig maintenance, training of the new crew, and maritime school students in seamanship and navigation, OOW and chief officer. As an officer on this ship, I worked with RADARS, ARPA, GPS. Gyro and magnetic compasses, but also with most traditional equipment for navigation such as sextant. During all these years, I've been racing on the 43ft sloop almost every weekend. In May 2013, I decided to leave the Navy and start a new career in the yachting industry. From May till October 2013, I worked as a chief officer (OOW) in Singapore on a 47m, 4 masts (22 sails), luxury, private/charter tall ship (barquentine) Royal Albatross. From January till May 2014, I was a skipper on 26m MY in Malaysia, and after that I worked for an agency in Montenegro on several motor yachts till the end of October 2014. From July till October 2015, I was a bosun on a 65m classic motor yacht (La Sultana) in Spain and France. From May 2016 until November 2019, I worked as a captain on a 100ft sailing yacht in the Med. From April 2021 until November 2022, I was the captain on a private 32m ketch, sailing in the W and E Mediterranean Sea. From October 2023 until July 2024, I was a captain on a 33m private sailing yacht in Italy and 6 months refit in Montenegro. I am interested in a new challenge and long-term commitment.
